Annie’s Thoughts on Problems With Friends
February 5, 2010
Hi, I’m Annie and I’m a new blogger. I enjoy writing and when I heard Girls With Dreams was looking for girls to blog I was very excited. I mostly want to blog about things that might happen in the avearage girl’s social life.
Like, just the other day, a funny thing happened at lunch. A girl I know was saying very rude, (but kind of funny) things about other people. This girl is usually a very nice person so naturally I was confused.
But then later, at recess, while I was jumping rope with my friends, the girl came up to us and said that she was really sorry for saying rude things and that she didn’t mean them and she was just trying to cheer up her friend who had been feeling a little bit down lately. So you see, not everything is always what it seems. Before you jump to conclusions, make sure you check that what you heard is what you think it is.
Natural Life Highs
January 29, 2010
Thu’s input on the good life….
You can get high off of drugs or alcohol.. but the best high is being high off life
Falling in love
Laughing so hard your face hurts
Being first in line at the grocery store
Receiving a letter in the mail or an e-mail
Finding out the item you want to buy is on sale
Finding a couple dollars in a jacket you haven’t worn in a while
Your first kiss
Swinging
Running in the rain
A long hot shower or bubble bath
Putting on clothes after they just got out of the dryer
Waking up to the sunrise
Getting home a minute before your curfew
Turning on the t.v. to see a movie you forgot existed
Operation Sunshine
January 28, 2010
Hey guys! So a few days ago, I was on facebook and doing homework (okay, procrastinating on homework :P) when my friend messaged me. She sent me a link to a website that she started and asked me to get the word out about it. Usually, I don’t do that kind of stuff, but the website sounded cool, so I thought, why not give it a look? I did. And LOVED what I saw.
Operation Sunshine is the website she sent me to. After reading all of her blogs, I thought about how amazingly awesome her idea was and how well it ties into GWD!
Operation Sunshine’s main goal is similar to GWD. My friend created it, wanting to make a difference in at least one person’s life. The way she went about it was totally unique, too. Instead of just saying “oh you’re not ugly, you’re cute” on people’s photos, she had a new approach. She got some hot pink sticky notes and wrote messages all over them, saying “You’re beautiful. You’re wonderful” etc.. Then she posted them all over her school in the bathroom walls!
Follow her on her website Operation Sunshine and maybe even do the same thing at your school. See what happens!
Stevie’s Recommendations: What I hate about me
January 13, 2010
There is a new TV show called ‘What I hate about me’. The show is about women who talk about ten things they hate about themselves and the host helps them fix it.
Now I’m not saying pick out the things you hate about yourself because that’s not right, but we all know there are somethings we wish we could change but we don’t know how. Watching this show you can see how they fix things about the girl. It usually simple things like saying sorry to much, can’t find jeans that fit your body, or simply adding color to your room.
I personally thinks it’s a great show and that you can get anything from it. There has only been two episodes but a new on is on every Saturday 9/8c and they repeat all the time.
Give it a try.
New Year, New You?
January 6, 2010
I love the start of the new year because it gives us time to reflect on the past year and how we want to move forward. This year is especially different, because you could even look at it from a decade perspective. As you enter 2010, a new year, a new decade, and maybe even a new you, I thought I’d share a few exercises and questions you might want to have fun with. Grab a journal or just take a little time to think about it!
- Create a vision board of dreams. Take out magazines and find pictures or words of what an ideal 2010 looks like. Think about different areas of your life from friends, school, family, activities, self esteem, etc…
- What went really well in 2009? What do you want to repeat?
- What was the biggest challenge in 2009? How did you deal with it? What was the biggest lesson?
- How have you let yourself dream big? Where have you squelched your dreams?
- If money, time, and fear weren’t an issue, what would you want to do?
- Who are your biggest supporters? How can you surround yourself with people who build you up?
- If you had to summarize your intention for 2010, in one word, what would it be?
Rumor: Was It Something You Heard?
January 6, 2010
Lately, I’ve had to deal with gossip and girls talking about me in and out of school. The most suprising part is that my friends were the ones talking about me. Today I realized that even though people are talking about me, I can’t shut them out of my life from what I HEAR.
Aren’t you just as bad if you stop becoming friends with someone because you HEAR they talk bad about you? Maybe they didn’t really say something bad about you. Before jumping to conclusions, find out the facts.
We can’t let gossip run our lives, especially interfere with real friendships.

Sexting and Teens: Tips Every Teen Needs to Know
December 22, 2009
Most teens don’t think about how their favorite cellphone, computer, or flip video can turn into a very dangerous device. A new AP poll found almost 30 percent of teens have been involved with sexting, or sending sexually explicit words or images via text message or online. And, around 50 percent have been victims of some type of digital bullying.
In this video, our Girls With Dreams team talks about sexting and tips every teen needs to know.
Here are a few key tips:
- Remember every thing you send is permanent. Even if you delete a picture or message later, you don’t know how many times that image has already been forwarded or who has seen it. It is permanent in cyberspace.
- Don’t give into peer pressure. It’s easy to not think completely about the results of our actions when we get caught up in the moment, so think before you post.
- Anyone can see what you post. Are you okay with your parents, teachers, neighbors, friends at school, or future employers or college admissions officers seeing pictures your posting?
- We’d love to hear your questions about comments about sexting! Talk to us on YouTube or send us a message at info@girlswithdreams.com
