Girl Talk Event on January 24

Join Girls With Dreams at an inspiring and informative FREE event just for mothers and daughters ages 11 and older on Saturday January 24, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital from 1-4 p.m. Keynote speaker, Carrie Silver-Stock, MSW, LCSW, author of the award winning book, The Powder Box Secrets: 7 Tips to Help Teen Girls Achieve Success, will share her secrets about keeping our girls safe from peer pressure, drinking, bullying, and drugs. She will end her talk with Self Esteem: Who’s Got It and How Do I Get It?

Amy Ney, MD (Discussing Healthy Skin at Any Age), Dawn DuBois (Don’t Sit, Stay Fit…Yoga Fun and Wii Fit), and Diane Andrea (Are You Smarter than a Dietician?) will also be featured.

Kate’s New Year’s Resolution

Back to my pre-wedding diet!

All of my jeans and t-shirts are too tight. Just three months after getting married and fitting perfectly into my dress, I weigh more than I’ve ever weighed in my life. Although it’s not that high of a number, I refuse to go out and buy new clothes to fit in.

I love eating and my weight could easily soar if I’m not careful. I don’t want to wake up one day and wonder how I got so big.

I just joined a gym and have started to track my progress. I’m even pairing up with a couple of girls from work to see how much we can all lose.
